West of the Cascades, rain can sit above glacial hardpan and soften the ground under a drive or shop pad. Crushed Concrete is made from reclaimed slabs and similar concrete, crushed into angular material with fine particles. When compacted, those particles occupy spaces between larger pieces and create a load-bearing course for traffic.
Drainage still has to be handled at the site; this product is not a substitute for catching water where it ponds over hardpan. Lay it in lifts and compact each lift so the base develops consistent support before the surface course is installed. That approach is useful around Puget Sound and the Olympic Peninsula, while sites east of the Cascades should account for drier ground and winter freezing. Choose washed, open-graded stone where the job calls for pipe bedding or a clean stone bed.

Common Uses
Driveway & Parking Pad Base
For a new drive or parking area, crushed concrete provides a working base beneath the surface. Place and compact it in lifts to build a solid layer that helps limit ruts and potholes. It can remain as the travel surface or receive driveway gravel on top for a more finished appearance.
Roads and Site Access
For private roadways, farm routes, equipment areas, and jobsite entry points, use crushed concrete as a base layer. It carries heavy truck and equipment loads and provides a travel surface for work after rain, which matters on wet Puget Sound sites.
Base Below Patios, Walkways & Pads
Place and compact crushed concrete below pavers, paths, shed foundations, and hot tub pads to spread the load and support a level finish. The coarse aggregate moves water more readily than native clay, limiting water beneath the completed surface. Lay sand or screenings as a bedding course before setting pavers.
Fill & Backfill
Use crushed concrete as structural fill when bringing up a low area, adjusting grade, or filling behind retaining walls and around footings. Once compacted, the angular material interlocks into a firm layer that is less prone than soil fill to washing away or becoming mud.
Why Choose Crushed Concrete
Lower Cost Than Quarried Base
Because it is recycled rather than quarried, crushed concrete commonly costs less per ton than crushed stone base. It is priced below driveway gravel at every order size, so the difference can matter on long driveways and access roads.
Forms a Firm Base
Run a plate compactor or roller over the angular pieces and fines so they lock together. As the layer settles, existing cement paste contributes to binding, producing a dense base that helps limit shifting, ruts, and washouts.
Recycled Material
Using crushed concrete keeps existing concrete in use rather than placing it in a landfill and reduces demand for newly quarried stone. It can provide the support required beneath roads and driveways.
Uses for Base and Fill
Use crushed concrete below driveways and parking areas, on access roads, beneath patios and sheds, or for general fill. It can cover much of a project's ground preparation in a single delivery.
