Everything You Need to Know About #89 Crushed Stone

- Angular crushed stone
#89 Crushed Stone has the close, gritty feel needed to work into narrow spaces in a hardscape installation. The angular crushed material carries fines, helping it draw together under compaction instead of behaving like an open aggregate. That makes it useful for setting flagstone and finishing paver joints.
Across Washington, wet ground west of the Cascades can hold water over hardpan, while drier ground east of the mountains brings a different set of site conditions. Those conditions make proper support beneath the finished work important, but this stone is not intended to form a free-draining layer. Place it over the prepared supporting surface, then compact it so it locks in place before the final paver or flagstone work proceeds. It is also appropriate for chip-seal surfacing and concrete mixes requiring a fine crushed aggregate.
